Written on January 24th, 2016 | by neluttu

iCloud Backup not working on iOS 9

For some users, like me, iCloud backup stopped working while running iOS 9.x. If you’re in the same boat, here’s the deal:

iCloud backup on your iDevice cannot be activated at this point. If you activate iCloud backup using iTunes, it will appear as activated on your iDevice, but it won’t work. Do no try to restore your iDevices as the problem, as far as I read, is Apple ID related. Your iDevice is working just fine. Try using a different Apple ID and the backup will work. Where are the songs Siri recognized for me?

Written on November 1st, 2014 | by neluttu

Since iOS 8 came out, Siri works with Shazam to recognize songs that are playing around you. That’s kinda cool. But where are all the songs Siri recognized? Is there a special list?

Well yes. I found out about it a few days ago. On your iPhone / iPad / iPod you need to launch the iTunes Store app and click on the top right “hamburger menu” icon. This will bring up a new screen with three tabs: “Wish List”, “Siri” and “Previews”. Read the rest

Got an iPhone? Wanna know when you’re gonna die?

Written on November 1st, 2014 | by neluttu

Well, this app – Deadline. – can tell you when you’re going to die, based on the data from the Health app. The app isn’t quite that accurate, but it can get close.

Alaric Cole, the developer and coder of Fitly – app for tracking your steps, says he used algorithms similar to the ones insurance companies use to generate the estimate. So if you’re keen to find out how many days you have left, get this app from the App Store right now! Read the rest

Quick fix for Pangu jailbreak bootloop error on iOS 7.1.1 / 7.1.0

Written on June 26th, 2014 | by neluttu

I just read a new post on /r/jailbreak from user DagMeow how points out that the bootloop error on some iDevices jailbroken with Pangu software is caused by the ambient light sensor.

Although it seems very weird, other users reported the fix as a valid one.

You will probably get a bootloop if your iDevice is in a dark room while rebooting. But if you point a flashlight above the light sensor while it is rebooting, the boot process goes well. Read the rest

Find my Friends

I know, it’s annoying! Everytime you want to see where your friends are you need to actually log in with your AppleID. But only if you don’t have a passcode for your iDevice. Users who have set  a passcode for their iDevice don’t need to enter their AppleID password each time they want to track somebody from their Find My Friends app.

That brings us to the next problem. There are users who don’t want to set a passcode for their iDevice. Read the rest
